Practice
If you use a Google Pixel with Android OS installed ex works, you have more charging options when using this wireless charger than with alternative operating systems such as GrapheneOS:
• If you like, you can simply access the Google Assistant.
• You can wake yourself up gently with light using the light alarm clock.
• View photos, enjoy music, etc. more comfortably in full-screen mode.
• Quickly control connected devices (lights, thermostats, etc.).
• Do not disturb mode while the Pixel phone is charging.
Setup
Wireless Charging
Google's Pixel Stand (Gen 2) can charge the battery of Pro models wirelessly with 23 watts. Other Pixel models are charged with 21 watts.
Qi-EPP-certified devices from other manufacturers are charged with up to 15 watts.
When using Google's Android OS, you can choose between …
Optimised
Charging is optimised according to your usage.
Recommended for most situations.
Max.
Your device will be charged as quickly as possible.
The fan may become louder at times.
Silent
Minimises noise by limiting the fan speed.
Device may charge more slowly.
Pros
- very good build quality
- Heat is dissipated well thanks to the fan
- also suitable for Qi-compatible devices from other manufacturers
Cons
- the Pixel 7 Pro/8 Pro must be aligned very precisely, otherwise no charge
- Charging possible in portrait format only
- Qi-compatible devices from other manufacturers are only charged with up to 15 watts
- Fan gets louder at times when charging, could be disturbing at night near the bed
- Power charger chirps quietly during fast charging with USB-C connection to the Pixel Phone
Conclusion
Offers more options compared to other chargers if it is not used with alternative operating systems such as GrapheneOS.
GrapheneOS only offers optimised charging (see above).
The purchase price sounds hefty, but in addition to the 1.5 metre long USB-C charging cable, the scope of delivery also includes the 30 watt fast charging adapter. Both would cost around 30 EUR each individually.
